What the limits mean
Where each line is drawn, and why.
Two of these are real technical ceilings rather than artificial gates, and it is worth knowing which.
- 5 extractions a month, free
- The counter resets monthly and unused extractions do not roll over. Five is enough to work through a handful of looks from your back catalogue and decide whether the results are worth anything to you.
- Exact before/after mode, on every plan
- This is the feature the product is built around, so gating it would mean nobody could evaluate the thing they are being asked to pay for. It is free on every plan, including free.
- Tone curves: 8 anchors free, 16 on Pro
- A real ceiling on precision, not a gate. Eight anchors describe almost any real edit. Sixteen describe it more tightly, which is better when the source pair is clean and worse when it is noisy — a curve fitted too closely to one image's quirks will posterise on the next photograph. More anchors is a sharper instrument, not a strictly better one.
- Colour Mix, Colour Grading and grain: Pro
- The per-band hue, saturation and luminance offsets, the shadow/midtone/highlight split and the grain field. The free plan measures and exports the tonal transform — the curves — which is the backbone of most looks. These are the rest of it.
- .cube and .json export: Pro
- The 33×33×33 LUT for video work and the raw measured numbers. .xmp is on every plan because a preset you cannot install is not a preset.
- Batch apply: up to 50 photos, Pro
- Apply a measured preset across a spread of your own photographs and see how the look behaves before you commit it to a shoot. This is the step that catches a preset which only works on the photo it came from.
Why it is not metered
There is no model behind this, so there is no per-request bill to pass on to you.
The extraction is binning, medians, monotone curve fitting and colour-space conversion. It runs in a couple of seconds on ordinary hardware and costs fractions of a cent. That is why Pro is flat and unlimited rather than a credit pack, and why the free tier is five real extractions rather than a trial with a watermark.
It is also why the lifetime option is a real offer rather than a stunt. A tool with no marginal cost can honestly be sold once.
